The last few blogs have been pretty inspirational and motivational and all that. Which is awesome of course, but sometimes you need some balance in life. So I thought I’d share a story which I hope you find funny. The moral of the story is not to judge a book by its cover lol.
So given my name, if you may not know I am of African heritage; Nigeria to be specific. As such my family, have familyand friends of African heritage also. My mum knew these two African women, friends to the family, who were living in London at the time and for the sake of the story I will call them both Denise and Jane. So Denise and Jane were waiting at a bus stop in London and were speaking in their native African dialect to each other, about just regular stuff. Perfectly Normal, nothing major.
So then this old white woman starts walking past them and sits nearby. So then Denise and Jane start speaking to each other- still in their African dialect- about how this woman is so frail and she should just stay at homeand not be trying to relive her younger days.
After a few minutes of doing this. The old white woman walks up to them and says in their exact dialect with a perfect accent: ” Don’t speak like that about people its not a good thing. I was in your village 50 years ago doing missionary work. Please be more respectful in the way you talk.”
Jane and Denise were both gobsmacked and nodded their heads and started walking briskly away; rather than waiting for the bus. They were terrified and did not believe the old white woman for a second; saying that the old white woman was: A witch, chasing them down from Africa loool.
I don’t believe she was a witch but I do think being respectful is important.
We have something new planned. Keep your eyes peeled on the Shop Section of the site.
