I love how Saba is talking about some very real things in society that are happening but is making it sound cool and something you can sing along to.  That’s the power of music for me just shown right there. In his chorus I can imagine him performing this and the crowd singing along to every single word, but if you take a minute to realise what he actually said it’s  pretty depressing.

But songs do that don’t sometimes, right? Like they say things in such a way that you actually completely forget the essence of what the artist is saying and you just sing along without REALLY realising what you’re actually singing along to.  One of the my personal favourite examples of this is the chorus in Mobb Deep Shook Ones Part 2. “Numerous ways you can choose to earn funds!! Some get… ”

And I would- and still do- sing it with such authority that you would think I know all about that life. But I don’t at all haha. I’ve never shot nobody, I’ve never stabbed anyone and neither do I want to lol. But it’s just the chorus is so melodic that I forget what I’m saying.

That’s what Dylan’s choice does here. Thanks Dylan for putting us onto this :).
